      Dr. Eric Fogleman

  • Specialty/Expertise –
    • General eye care and low vision.
  • When did you know that you wanted to be an optometrist –
    • After carrying a corneal metal foreign body around for about a week, I went to a local optometrist who removed the foreign body and rust ring without causing me pain. I went in hurting and left with great relief. I had been considering entering dental school, but soon knew that optometry was my calling.
  • Favorite part of being an optometrist –
    • The immediate gratification of helping people see what they have been missing.
  • Favorite vacation –
    • Hiking across Scotland, scuba diving the finger reefs of Belize, or any trip hiking and fishing in Alaska.
  • Favorite concert you’ve been to –
    • John Denver and Starland Vocal Band in Greensboro NC, 1977.  Especially notable when we realized that my future wife and I had both attend the same concert some 30 years earlier.
  • Do you have any pets –
    • Yes. A miniature Schnauzer named Deco that is not as good a running dog as I was led to believe.
  • Fun fact –
    • I have been running marathons and ultra marathons since 1990.
    • In that time I have run about 100 marathons or longer.
    • My wife and I have 8 children, two grandchildren, and only two children still at home.
